The Fury of Ondoy

Just recently, Philippines was hit by one of the most destructive typhoons in the history. What started as strong rainfalls suddenly turned to a heavy downpour that can be compared to a month of rainfall. Different areas around the country turned into a sea of flood. All that was visible above are the roofs of the houses. Trees were knocked down on their places. Cars were floating around.

Thousands of people were affected by the calamity. People were stranded on their homes for days without food, water, and electricity. Children got sick, many got injured and died. Others are still missing. People lost their homes, properties, and livelihood. Classes and work were suspended. Flights were canceled, domestic or international.
Business were paralyzed and faced a great deal of loss, especially in the sector of agriculture. Infrastructures were severely damaged like buildings, classrooms, roads, and bridges. Roads were not accessible for days making it more difficult for the rescuers to conduct the rescue operations. The estimated total damages of the calamity already reached billions.

These are some of the pictures taken during Ondoy's fury.
